An assistance fund of R1 million has been designated to the town of Madibeng to help it cope with its water crisis. They have been suffering with unhealthy water since algae has been increasing exponentially in raw water. This water is harvested in Hartebeespoort area.

Because of this the municipality has been closing valves that has been supplying the town with water. Now just imagine what that scarcity does to its constituents. A town with no or little access to clean water is difficult to live with since mainly most of what we do relies on water. From eating, to cleaning, to drinking, water is at the heart of human lifestyle. The cost was estimated to reach around R8 million thus additional funding is needed.

But before that happens the municipality has found a short way to address the problem. They are to enter into an agreement with a water company to construct a pipeline 50 kilometers in distance to provide water to the affected towns.

There are only two undergraduate students who presented their research a professional conference in Ohio. These students from Ohio State University participated at the annual Ohio Inorganic Chemistry Conference.
