Potassium chloride water softener proves to be harmless and affordable
Minerals like calcium and magnesium makes the water hard. This can lead to
the buildup of scale in pipes and appliances. That is why there is a need to
reduce the presence or quantity of these minerals in water. By reducing the
quantity of these minerals, the water will eventually softens and will provide

In essence a water softener consists of an ion exchange resin. As the water flows through a water softener, the ion exchange resin removes the minerals. The chemical compound potassium chloride (KCl) is a metal halide composed of potassium and chlorine. The compound is pure and odorless in its state. It has a white or colorless vitreous crystal, with crystal structure that cleaves easily in three directions. Potassium chloride crystals are face-centered cubic. Potassium chloride is occasionally known as "muriate of potash," particularly used as a fertilizer. The color of Potash varies from pink or red to white depending on the mining and recovery process used. White potash, sometimes referred to as soluble potash is usually higher in analysis and is used primarily for making liquid starter fertilizers. KCl is used in medicine, scientific applications, food processing and also used as a lethal injection. It occurs naturally as the mineral sylvite and combined with sodium chloride as sylvinite.
