The Rain Soft Water Softener: an evaluation

One of the top producers of water softener systems is Rain Soft. Rain Soft has been in the business of developing and offering water softening products for more than 50 years. When choosing Rain Soft as your water softening provider, you have a variety of systems from which to choose. These include water conditioners, filtration systems, and filters.

When you're looking for a Rainsoft water softener in the form of a conditioner, you have two choices: the Apollo and Amazon models. Both of these models eliminate hard water by using an ion exchange process that involves salt being replaced with the minerals causing the hard water. The two models offer

The Apollo Rain Soft water softener and the Amazon model work similarly. The hard water enters the water softener resin where it goes through the ion exchange process. The conditioned water is ejected from the resin area of the tank. The regeneration process (the removed stuff is flushed from the system) follows and the system is ready to go through another session.

The Apollo model features a single tank that carries out the softening process. This model also includes features to help make the system virtually maintenance free. When the system is installed, the technician will set the timer so that regeneration occurs when no one is using water (typically in the early morning hours). The technician should also program the system to sound an alarm when the salt level reaches a certain level. This helps so that you don’t have to continuously check the system to see if it needs salt. Since the system is electrically powered, it will be affected during a power outage.

The Apollo RainSoft water systems are designed to retain their settings in memory for up to 72 hours without the need for a battery backup. Families with minimal water requirements or who have limited space typically choose the Amazon model. This water softener is designed to save space since the system houses both tanks in a single container.

The Amazon systems use two tanks and a six step process to soften hard water. The way this water softener works is simple. Once the minerals causing the hard water are removed, the system goes through a regeneration process where remaining salt is removed and the system is refilled and prepared for the next session. The process uses both tanks to make the process of softening water more efficient.

When deciding which system is best for you, consider the size of your family and the amount of water your household consumes daily. Your Rainsoft technician can help you decide which model best fits your needs.
