Water softener cleaner removes rust and stains from household fixtures.

If your softening system is not working, you may have to troubleshoot it, but before you do check first the water softener, if you will notice salt residue on the glass and also the salt will sink even when you add much of it, then your softening system needs a water softener cleaner. You should clean the injector at least two times a year to help improve the job it does for your home.

A cleaner must be used regularly, each time you add salt to the brine tank, to insure smooth mechanical performance of your water softener. Using water softener cleaner will keep the resin clean and charged; it will also help to dissolve that salt that may remains in the brine tank. But take not, if the water softener is not functioning mechanically, cleaner cannot perform properly. Due to a mechanical malfunction of the unit a taste or odor of the solution may remain, run a soft cold water tap until all taste and odor is gone. Water is then safe for all normal uses. Water softener cleaner helps clean rust and iron deposits from your water softener's resin bed to maintain softening and iron removal capacity. Also effective in removing rust and stains from household fixtures: sinks, tubs, toilets, tile, etc.

Regularly cleaning out your water softener is a good way to deal water softener problems, but even in the most ideal conditions, it is a lot of work. Before starting the process, you should carefully read through all the steps and instructions. Once you pour cleaner into your water softener, you must be committed to flushing it completely as you’ll have soapy water for a long time to come if you don’t!

The most common reasons to clean a tank are the mineral deposits or problems caused by them. If you have gas water heater the deposits form on the bottom of the tank and are usually stuck to the tank itself. Cleaning out the water heater will only remove a fraction of the deposits in there, if that’s what you are attempting to do. Some of the deposits from an electric tank will flush in the cleaning process; however, many are too large to flush through the drain valve.

When you clean your softening system, start by switching your water softener to bypass mode. By doing this, it will make sure water will not run through while you are in the cleaning process. Disconnect the plug from the electrical outlet in the wall; this will also prevent any harm during the process. Next, remove the water softener injector cap. After the injector cap is removed, make sure that you also remove the injector screen which is found behind the cap. You should wash this screen with warm and soapy water. You can then clean the softener injector nozzle. The dust and dirt particles in the machine can also be removed by canned air, canned air usually works best. Paperclips also help in cleaning the rest of the water softener. Then, put the injector screen back in place making sure the screen is secured and back in its original position. Screw the injector cap back into its position and tighten it so it is back in place. Make sure to prepare the softener for testing and plug back into the electrical outlet. After all the parts have been returned as is, you are ready to test it. Run it and see if it is running properly. Your water softener should now be good for six months or until it is ready for more cleaning.

You may get a slight amount of soapsuds from the hot water faucets for a day or two after cleaning your water softener. By this time, the water softener cleaner is so diluted that there is no harm in the small amount remaining. After all of this you may still have problems such as rumbling, which means there is sentiment left in the tank. The whole process is quite complicated.
