Water softener installation is now made easy if you have done it by a professional

There are quite a lot of water softeners to choose from and so many questions on how it works, who are the different manufacturers and what are the different parts or how to install the system. Well our topic will be focusing on the installation process. In research, a water softener installation is quite complicated and not something to be taken lightly.

A professional plumber will install a water softener at approximately 4 hours, but if you want to do it yourself and feel like taking the challenge, there is an installation kit when purchasing a water softener. Before starting, you need to identify where are the pipes located in your house which is considered as a main thing because it will tell us where you can install your water softener and to make sure that the water runs properly. Then you can start with the installation process which we will be discussing.

The installation process starts with the position, which is recommended to be near a waste pipe or drain so that all the waste materials that builds up during the softening process periodically needs to be washed out. You must also ensure that your water softener is placed near a power socket because it needs a power supply to work. Your water supply will be shut off during the water softener installation. You, as the user and purchaser of the system must know how to operate and handle the system and learn the different steps of the installation. You must also remember that each water softener has their own specifics when it comes to their installation. There are certain dos and don’ts to consider as well which will be tackled.

The system has to be kept inside the house or in a closed place because it has to be in a dry area to prevent fluctuation in temperatures. If the water softener has two tanks, you have to make sure that the two are together which is accessible. If your tank is installed outside it needs a location that is not in direct sunlight. In this case, many tanks are purchased with a jacket to protect the unit from any weather. Most water softener system comes with a bypass valve, which allows the flow of untreated water in your house if the water needs repairing or if you want to take the water softener is you want to move in another house. Some models include a drinking pipe which is responsible for delivering the untreated water to your taps to ensure that your drinking water is sodium free. Your water softener comes with two copper caps that will be attached to the bypass valve to your normal pipe.

There are certain things to remember to prevent warping. Connect one piece of one-half plastic tube to the overflow tank and a similar piece to the drain that fits in a water softener. Next, you have to connect the bypass valve to the inlet and outlet fittings and make sure that it is secured in place. Place a rubber o-ring over the end of each pipe and put the pipes in the bypass fittings, tighten them and make sure that it is held in place. Now, in most properties, the copper water piping acts as grounding for the electrical stuff. You will have interrupted this path so you will need to create a small copper bridge between the two pipes when adding the bypass unit. After all this, your water softener is now ready for action.

In addition, your electricity outlet should be at least less than 50 feet from the water softener unit. Then you need to run and test the program that is responsible for the softening process. Run the backwash cycle and look for leaks and if there are, then tighten them. You should be able to watch the tank as it runs the cycle of water so that you could be sure that everything works properly.

As a consumer, you must always trial test the system especially if you are not the one installing the system. It is also very important to know the steps so that you may be able to monitor the water softener on a daily basis and if something goes wrong you will be able to detect and make a complaint. Purchasing a product like this may be very complex when it comes to installing it but it is very helpful and useful to you and your family.
